Summary of SOEST Organizational Chart

This organization chart (PDF) graphically represents the hierarchy of responsibilities of SOEST administrative personnel.

At the top of the chart are Brian Taylor, Dean of SOEST, the Executive Committee, the Education-Outreach Committee, and the Research Council. Dr. Taylor is responsible for the overall administration and operation of SOEST, and, as Dean, he oversees three research institutes and the University of Hawaii Sea Grant program (purple). The Executive Committee and the Research Council provide him with current information on the activities and status of subordinate units and programs.

Chip Fletcher, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, provides oversight for the four academic departments and the academic aspects of two research units (yellow).

Alexander Shor, Associate Dean for Research, provides oversight for the research aspects of the academic departments, and for all the research divisions and HURL (green). He also has secondary oversight for four research support facilities (blue).

Juanita Andaya, the Director of Administration, administers the eight support offices and facilities (blue).
