Applying to the Graduate Program in Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS)
There are three information sessions for potential applicants for Fall 2025 admissions:
Session 1: overview of the program and application process;
Session 2: overview of research divisions and research opportunities with faculty;
Session 3: meeting current graduate students.

Do the following by December 1 (Fall admissions) or August 15 (Spring admissions)
- Complete Graduate Admissions Application.
- Submit application fee.
- Submit one transcript for each post-secondary institution attended. To expedite the review of your application while the official copies are being processed, you may upload unofficial copies.
- Official English proficiency exam scores for applicants whose native language is not English. See the
Graduate Division
site for exams accepted + eligibility exemptions.
- GRE scores are not required, but if your Bachelor's degree is from a U.S. institution that uses a non-traditional grading system, see the Graduate Division's requirements for "Non-Traditional Grades."
(2) Submit specific materials required for Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS):
Complete the
EPS application package
then upload directly from your graduate admissions account, following the instructions you received from Graduate Student Services.
(3) Provide three letters of recommendation
from previous instructors, advisors, collaborators, or employers who can write about the evaluation points listed in the EPS application package:
- Fill in the top portion of the
Recommendation Form
and email it to your reference providers for them to complete the remaining portion.

Log in to your graduate admissions account to request a recommendation letter. Your reference provider will receive a link where they can upload their documents.
