Covid Info

Traveling to Hawaii:

Traveling to Hawaii during the COVID-19 pandemic requires some careful planning. To attend DCLDE in person you must be vaccinated for COVID-19. The State of Hawaii posts up-to-date information on entry requirements for foreign and domestic travelers – check entry requirements given your travel plans at the Hawaii COVID-19 Portal. Please don’t wait for the last minute to check the requirements and gather and submit the required documents (if you arrive in Hawaii without having met the requirements you will be ordered to quarantine for 10 days or until you leave). Note that while it is allowable to enter the State from other US cities with only a negative COVID-19 test, you will not be permitted entry to the Alohilani Resort – and therefore to DCLDE – without a valid vaccine certificate. ‘Alohilani’s vaccination policy and FAQs are available here.

As part of the Safe Access Oahu program, to enter businesses such as restaurants, bars, gyms, movie theaters, arcades and other similar establishments, you must show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last 48 hours. Please bring and be prepared to show your proof of vaccination to enter the Alohilani, restaurants and similar establishments while on Oahu.  Please check the Safe Access Oahu webpage to learn about what establishments will accept as proof of vaccination or test.

Please bring and be prepared to wear a mask:

The State of Hawaii requires that everyone be wearing a mask that covers their nose and mouth when in public indoor spaces. We’ll be following State requirements during DCLDE and ask that you come prepared to fully participate for the week. All tutorials and workshop sessions are indoors. Wear your mask while indoors, and carry your proof of vaccination and ID card with you.

US entry and entering Hawaii are two different things! If your port of entry is the mainland US you will be considered a domestic traveler from that point on.
