In POST840 SOEST has a HP Designjet T7100 for printing posters with the network name 'pubsplot'. The plotter prints on paper 42" wide and holds 3 different types of paper; HP Universal Bond, Photo Semi-Gloss/Satin, and Photo Gloss. If the paper or ink runs out, contact RCF in POST820 or email us at You select the paper type in the printer driver properties of the program you're using. After sending the print job, it will be queued on a computer in POST840 where you have to release it with your SOEST account. Make sure to fill out the clipboard next to the computer that details the print job.

For Windows Vista/7/8: How to set up printing to the HP T7100

  1. Download the appropriate driver for your version of windows from the list below and save it to your desktop. (This downloads a file called "hpdjt7100seriesxxyy.exe" which is a self-extracting zip archive)
  2. Go to your desktop(or wherever the file downloaded to) and double click on hpdjt7100seriesxxyy.exe and type in C:\PrinterDrivers\T7100 into the "unzip to folder" dialog box

  3. Go to Start Printers and on the menu bar select "Add a printer".
  4. Click on Add a local printer to continue. If windows attempts to seach for a printer you will have to stop the search to continue.
  5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port from the drop down list. Click Next to continue
  6. Select TCP/IP Device as the Device type:. Type in as the Hostname and name the port Make sure "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" is unchecked. Click Next to continue.
  7. Select the Custom radio button and click the Settings button
  8. In Settings, verify Port Name: and Printer Name/IP Address:
  9. Change the protocol to LPR by selecting the LPR radio button

    Under LPR Settings, enter Queue Name: pubsplot2 and check the box LPR Byte Counting Enabled

    Click OK to continue

  10. Click Next when you're taken back to the Additional Port Information Required window
  11. Click the Have Disk button
  12. Specify the location where you extracted the HP T7100 GL driver to or select Browse to find the path (i.e. C:\unzipped\T7100driver). Click OK to continue
  13. Select HP DesignJet T7100 HPGL2 and click on Next
  14. the printer HP T7100 or any appropriate name, then select No for default printer. Click Next
  15. Do not print a test page unless you really want to. Click Finish and you should have the designjet T7100 available to print to on your machine.
