Research Interests

My group is interested in the ecology of benthic ecosystems and particularly on how these ecosystems respond to environmental change and anthropogenic disturbance. Focusing primarily on deep-sea vulnerable marine ecosystems (i.e., deep sea coral, chemosynthesis-based ecosystems), our research aims at 1) advancing our knowledge of the basic biology and ecology of these key systems, 2) filling crucial knowledge gaps on their spatial and temporal dynamics in relation to environmental change, and 3) evaluate the resilience of vulnerable marine ecosystems to impacts from human activities (e.g., oil spills) and climate change. Ultimately, the goal of this research is to inform conservation and contribute to a better protection and management of deep-sea ecosystems.
