Special Seminar: Dr. Andrea Frommel – “Sweat the small stuff: How environmental variability influences the sensitivity of fish populations to climate change”
Climate change is impacting important commercial fish species, but we still know little about how natural environmental variability influence a population’s sensitivity for predictive modelling. Regional oceanographic processes such as upwelling and small-scale biological processes like respiration and photosynthesis can change physical parameters of ocean water by orders of magnitude on small temporal and spatial scales. In this talk, I will share some of my past and current work on how ocean acidification, in combination with other climate change stressors, affects early life stages of fish in the context of the environmental parameters they naturally experience.
