SEMINAR: MS. MARA DIAS – HOW SCIENCE INFORMS POLICY

The Uehiro Center for the Advancement of Oceanography has asked Mara Dias of Surfrider Foundation to speak on How Science Informs Policy. Her talk will be Thursday, September 14th at 10:00 AM in POST 807 Duennerbier Collaboratorium.
With a background in marine biology and an MS in environmental policy, Mara is the Surfrider Foundation’s Water Quality Manager. She oversees the Blue Water Task Force and runs campaigns to promote clean water at the federal level. In addition to her work at Surfrider, Mara promotes Surfrider’s mission by setting an example for her children through the three R’s and instilling in them an appreciation for the natural world.The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network.
