Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when submission to or rejection of this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual’s employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual\u2019s work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment. Sexual harassment is illegal whether it occurs in the workplace or within an educational setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Title IX is a landmark federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in education, and it\u2019s not just about sports. It addresses discrimination against pregnant and parenting students, women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs, sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, and sexual violence. Sexual violence includes attempted or completed rape or sexual assault, as well as sexual harassment, stalking, voyeurism, exhibitionism, verbal or physical sexuality-based threats or abuse, and intimate partner violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Title IX protects every person \u2014 female, male, transgender, and gender non-conforming students, faculty, and staff \u2014 from any sex-based discrimination, harassment, or violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
