Outstanding SOEST employees recognized by RCUH

The Research Corporation of the University of Hawaiʻi (RCUH) has recognized exemplary SOEST employees for their contributions to and impact on research at the university through their annual Outstanding Employee Awards.

The awards are based on the following notable characteristics:

  • Initiative, leadership and resourcefulness in carrying out their achievements
  • Impact of their achievements on the project, professional field and/or larger community
  • Other variables such as the significance or quality of their achievements

Each individual received a certificate and cash award. First-place awardees received $1,000, while second-place awardees received $500.

Researcher / Project Manager Category

Ceci Rodriguez Cruz, SMART Cable Project Manager in the Department of Ocean and Resources Engineering (ORE), was awarded first place in the Researcher/ Project Manager category. She was nominated by ORE professor Bruce Howe.

Christian Tai Udovicic, Postdoc Researcher in the Hawai‘i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology (HIGP), was recognized with the second place award in this category. He was nominated by Emily Costello, research scientist in HIGP.

Project Support Staff Category

Dylan Boeman, Marine Servicing Technician in the Department of Oceanography, was awarded second place in the Project Support Staff category. He was nominated by Christopher Sabine, oceanography professor and interim Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship at UH Mānoa.
