Cover design by J. Gunnarson
This symposium is supported by the Uehiro Center for the Advancement of Oceanography and showcases the work of graduate students in the Department of Oceanography. Postdoctoral fellows and undergraduate students also participate. Department faculty serve on the judging panel and deliver keynote and closing remarks.
This student-run symposium empowers graduate students to set the theme, develop programming, and present their research to peers, advisors, and the public. It serves as both a professional development and community-building experience.
Session titles include the following: Instrumental Science, Keeping Current at Station ALOHA, On Island Time, Coral Vulnerability and Resilience, Thinking Deep, Biogeochemistry on the High Seas, and Oceans and Climate.
This year’s event will also feature a film screening, art and science workshop and a community workshop. These workshops are organized and led by Department of Oceanography students and faculty.
