Incredible Kahului Expedition!

A victory for science! WaveCPR has visited Kahului, Maui, to install brand new sensors in Kahului Bay. This data will allow us to develop ground-breaking new forecasts. Stick around for further updates!

4 Big Waves of 2025!

We’re taking a look at all the forecast products that WaveCPR runs, and checking out which are the biggest, baddest waves of the year so far!

4. West Maui, August 12th

Record-setting waves hit the Kaʻanapali district of Maui, leading residents to stay away from the beach (and laugh at tourists who went to the beaches). Though the destruction was limited, it left the locals amazed. If you don’t want to wipe out, check out our West Maui forecast: here

3. Oʻahu North Shore, October 5th

Surf’s up! Historic Haleiwa on the north shore of O’ahu was hit with wild waves. Surfers flocked to the beach to catch some of the best waves of the year. If you want to know when to catch the waves, check out our North Shore forecast: here

2. Waikiki, August 9th

Tourists were shocked when waves swept the entire Waikiki beach, running up past the palm trees, across pedestrian paths, and up to the sides of hotels. 1. The TSUNAMI!! July 30th

Could it be anything else? A tsunami is always a big, dangerous and exciting world event. Residents of many Pacific Islands were warned several hours in advance, flooding the streets to rush to safety. While the tsunami petered out in several locations, it still reached heights of several meters across the Hawaiian Islands. The tsunami itself may not have been the biggest wave, but its impact was far beyond any other wave. To keep yourself safe and informed, check out all of our wave-related products: here
