EPʻIK Scholar is a program for Hawaiʻi high school students to earn college course credit and tuition scholarships for introductory Earth Science courses offered through the UHM Summer Scholar program. EPʻIK Scholar allows selected students to take these summer courses (listed below) tuition-free (a $1500 savings to students and families) during UHʻs Summer sessions (May - Aug 2024).

EPʻIK Scholar students must be rising Juniors or Seniors during the 2024 summer, attend a Hawaiʻi high school, have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and have applied to the 2024 UHM Summer Scholars Program.

We are accepting EPʻIK Scholar applications now for the 2023-2024 academic year. Before submitting an EPʻIK Scholar application, students are required to first submit an application to the UHM Summer Scholar program.

Selected students will be notified of their scholarship award by May 8, 2024, and will then be provided information for enrolling in UHMʻs Summer Scholar program and registering for one UHMʻs Earth Science summer courses.
