Pāʻā to Niumalu, Kauaʻi

The Shipwreck study area, dominated by Shipwreck Beach or Keoneloa (transects 0 – 20) is located on the southeast coast of Kauaʻi. The shoreline is composed of a large, sometimes steep-faced carbonate sand beach and basalt headlands. Overall, the area is experiencing erosion with an average shoreline change rate of -1.1 ft/yr. Previous studies1 found similar trends in shoreline change for the Shipwreck study area.
