CRC led the Koʻolau Poko Readiness Review in partnership with the City and County of Honolulu Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency (CCSR) with support from Brown & Caldwell and One World One Water. The Ko'olau Poko Readiness Review was initiated by Marine Corps Base Hawai'i (MCBH) in 2021 to address the increasing natural hazards impacting the region. The project involved extensive community engagement and collaboration which included input from Technical Advisory and Steering Committees comprising representatives from the surrounding community, academia, Native Hawaiian groups, and local, state, and federal government. The primary objectives of the Ko'olau Poko Readiness Review were to develop regional adaptation and implementation strategies and identify prioritized pilot projects. This was achieved by assessing the vulnerability of the region's key infrastructure assets to natural hazards with the goal of reducing current and future natural hazard risks to Koʻolau Poko communities and MCBH.
