UNOLS Cruise Planner App

University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) is an organization of 58 academic institutions, including the University of Hawaiʻi, and National Laboratories involved in oceanographic research and joined for the purpose of coordinating oceanographic ships' schedules and research facilities. This Cruise Planning Application is intended to connect scientists and students with ship operators as a supplement to the Ship Time Request System. You must have an account to begin planning your upcoming expedition.

Vessel Scheduling and Planning

To schedule ship time aboard the R/V Kilo Moana, submit a request online to the UNOLS Ship Time Request and Scheduling System (STRS) at the time of proposal submission to the federal agencies, approximately one year before the expected expedition. Once ship time has been assigned to the Kilo Moana, the ship schedule and expedition profile can be access and edited on the UNOLS Cruise Planning Application.

Hazardous materials, including chemical and radioactive substances, must be handled according to University of Hawaiʻi and University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) guidelines.
