Graduate student Xiaojing Lai and visiting student Jing Gao attended the AGU Fall Meeting in New Orleans, OK. Xiaojing gave a talk on effect of hydrogen on the melting of the Fe-C system and the fate of subducted carbon; Jing gave a talk on super-deep diamond genesis at redox conditions of slab-mantle boundary.
Dr. Bin Chen gave a presentation on "Carbon in Earth's Interior" at the Departmental Colloquium of the Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Hawaii.
Our work on the Polyamorphic Transformations in Fe-Ni-C Liquids has been accepted by Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth. Great job, Xiaojing!
Dr. Xing Ding from the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry joined the group as a visiting scholar. He will be staying in the group for three months to conduct collaborative research. Welcome, Xing!
Dr. Bin Chen appeared in ThinkTech Hawaii to talk about his research on “Investigating Planetary Interiors—Studying Pressure-Temperature Conditions Deep Within the Earth".
Graduate student Xiaojing Lai and Dr. Bin Chen attended 2017 COMPRES annual meeting. Xiaojing gave a talk on "Structure and Equation of State of Fe3P up to 1 Mbar: Implications for Phosphorus in Earth’s Core" on July 10th, 2017.
Menglong Sun and Qinxia Wang, visiting undergraduate students sponsored by the University of Science and Technology of China, joined our group on June 26. Dr. Bin Chen attended the third DCO International Science Meeting on March 23-25, at San Andrews, UK. He presented an invited talk on "Influence of carbon on properties of solid iron under extreme conditions: Hidden carbon reserviors in Earth's core".
Prof. Junfeng Liu from Chang'an University (Xi'an, China) joined the group as a visiting scholar. He will be working in our group for 12 months for collaborative research. Welcome, Junfeng!
