Back
8:13 pm: Back at the beginning. We had taken on the Kalalau trail and kicked its ass, proving once and for all that the 22-mile hike can be completed in one day. It is difficult to put this accomplishment into its proper perspective. I cannot help but think that our journey is on a par with Thor Heyerdahl's 101-day Kon-Tiki expedition, in which he proved that the Polynesian islands were within reach of primitive South American sailors. Of course, Thor didn't bother to complete the return journey.
