This image shows examples of the three types of mutes. From left to right you see traces with a top mute, bottom mute and box mute.
If t1 is the time of a top mute on a particular trace, then the trace values at all times greater than t1 are set to zero.
If t2 is the time of a bottom mute on a particular trace, then the trace values at all times less than t2 are set to zero.
If t1 and t2 (>t1) are the times of a box mute on a particular trace, then the trace values at all times between t1 and t2 are set to zero.
