•More light does not equate to more safety.

•The quality of the light is more important
than the quantity of light.

•The use of full cutoff lighting and fully shielded lighting allows the eye to see into shadows.

•The overall brightness of an area does not determine security.

• Well targeted light without glare offers the best security.

•There are no controlled studies that verify that adding more light to a situation reduces crime. Two Congressional studies (1979 and 1997) support this claim.
