Implementing SSL in Windows Live mail

Select the Accounts tab at top of window, then click on the Properties menu item.
Select the Servers tab in the Properties window

Servers Settings

Incoming Mail	Your SOEST mail server
Outgoing Mail	smtp-server.soest.hawaii.edu
Email Username / Password	Enter your SOEST username and password
	Select "Log on using clear text authentication"
Outgoing Mail Server	Check my server requires authentication

Under the Advanced tab set both the incoming and outgoing servers to use SSL.

Advanced Settings

Outgoing Mail	465 or 587
	Check "This server requires SSL"
Incoming Mail	993 (imap) / 995 (pop3)
	Check "This server requires SSL"

When done, click Apply then OK
