For Windows Vista/7/8: How to set up printing to the HP T7100

1. Download the appropriate driver for your version of windows from the list below and save it to your desktop. (This downloads a file called "hpdjt7100seriesxxyy.exe" which is a self extracting zip archive)

     
  HP T7100 32bit HPGL Driver (HPGL driver for 32 bit version of Windows)
  HP T7100 64bit HPGL Driver (HPGL driver for 64 bit version of Windows)
 
Always try to use the HPGL driver first. If you encounter any difficulties, then install and use this PS driver
  HP T7100 32bit PS Driver (PostScript driver for 32 bit version of Windows)
  HP T7100 64bit PS Driver (PostScript driver for 64 bit version of Windows)

Go to your desktop(or wherever the file downloaded to) and double click on hpdjt7100seriesxxyy.exe and type in C:\PrinterDrivers\T7100 into the "unzip to folder" dialog box



2. Go to Start    > Printers and on the menu bar select "Add a printer".



3. Click on Add a local printer to continue. If windows attempts to seach for a printer you will have to stop the search to continue.



4. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port from the drop down list. Click Next to continue



5. Select TCP/IP Device as the Device type:. Type in xfiery.soest.hawaii.edu as the Hostname and name the port pubsplot-xfiery.soest.hawaii.edu. Make sure "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" is unchecked. Click Next to continue.


6. Select the Custom radio button and click the Settings button



7. In Settings, verify Port Name: pubsplot-xfiery.soest.hawaii.edu and Printer Name/IP Address: xfiery.soest.hawaii.edu

Change the protocol to LPR by selecting the LPR radio button

Under LPR Settings, enter Queue Name: pubsplot2 and check the box LPR Byte Counting Enabled

Click OK to continue



8. Click Next when you're taken back to the Additional Port Information Required window



9. Click the Have Disk button

 


10. Specify the location where you extracted the HP T7100 GL driver to or select Browse to find the path (i.e. C:\unzipped\T7100driver). Click OK to continue



11. Select HP DesignJet T7100 HPGL2 and click on Next



12. Name the printer HP T7100 or any appropriate name, then select No for default printer. Click Next



13. Do not print a test page unless you really want to. Click Finish and you should have the designjet T7100 available to print to on your machine.
