Lidar Systems
Scanning Lidar
Our scanning lidar system was used in the 90s for coastal aerosol
studies. Dr. Shiv Sharma, Dr. Barry Lienert and myself were involved in
the project. The system was installed in a container and employed a two
axis scanner to direct the laser beam (Shiv reference). The components
and configuration of the system are shown in the figure below.
Mini Lidar System
In order to build a more portable system a small lidar was built
(Porter et al, 2002). This system was used in various small experiments
and the basic design of this system is shown below. This system used a
custom logarithmic amplifier to improve the system dynamic range. This
system was used on trucks and other portable systems.
