My main interest is the study of atmospheric aerosols and their influence on climate change.  My PhD thesis was on lidar measurements and data analysis, using data I collected in the Sea of Japan as part of ACE-Asia (March - April 2001).  My work at the University of Hawai'i has been primarily in the modeling of light propagation and absorption in the atmosphere-ocean environment.  We have developed a flexible Monte Carlo code (AO3D) for the simulation of light propagation in the environment.
