Many federal, state and local agencies require benthic habitat maps to meet resource management needs. Where possible NOAA takes these other agencies needs into account when planning mapping activities and can provide the resulting data to its partner agencies for little additional cost. However, there are times that non-NOAA organizations desire mapping in areas that are not a priority to NOAA. In order to facilitate requests for such work, PIBHMC has established a mechanism that allows other organizations to contract for mapping services. These services can be provided for the following rates; contact us for more details.
This includes one day of surveying using the R/V AHI for up to eight hours including transit time to and from Snug Harbor (Pier 45) and the survey site. The cost of a surveyor and boat operator are included as are the costs of fuel, computer media and other operating expenses. One customer representative may participate in the survey if desired. For surveys that require operations from harbors other than Snug Harbor, the customer will be responsible for the cost of transporting the R/V AHI to the work site, for providing a slip for the boat during the period of the survey, and the costs of travel and lodging for survey personnel. There is no hourly rate for AHI work; the smallest contractible unit is by day.
This includes the cost of correcting and editing the multibeam data, developing gridded bathymetric and acoustic backscatter data products, and providing those products in hardcopy and digital form, and is based on an average of four days of processing time for each day of data collection. Additional products can be provided on a cost reimbursable basis at an average rate of $365 per additional processing day plus supplies.
