The fishery management problems at Cross Seamount are typical of management problems in many fisheries. The small size of the Cross fishery makes it a useful model for the analysis of fishery management in general.
I will present a brief background of this fishery and briefly outline some current management problems.
Next I will discuss the tagging study currently in progress to provide information about the dynamics of the the tuna resources in the offshore fishery.
Finally, I will discuss at length a preliminary analysis of the tag recapture data as a “clinic” on integrated statistical modeling for the benefit of the grad students with an interest in modeling.
