THE PACIFIC ISLANDS CLIMATE ADAPTATION SCIENCE CENTER’S K-12 EDUCATION HUB

The goal of this project is to develop the Pacific Islands Climate Adaptation Science Center’s (PI-CASC) capacity to build educational resources to communicate science and climate research relevant to Hawai’i and the Affiliated Pacific Islands (USAPI). we We are building K-12 educational materials aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) based on PI-CASC and USGS research in Hawai’i and the Pacific Islands region. In collaboration with scientists, we are taking the most current datasets and findings and turning them into accessible materials to be used at home or in the classroom. We also provide a growing list additional resources for students, teachers, and researchers.

With this evolving climate adaptation education hub, we intend to provide teachers and researchers with engaging tools to inspire our youth to cultivate their connection with the environment and community through the lens of climate change. With knowledge, students can feel empowered to be part of the science and solutions that build resiliency within our local communities.
