CHARTER and GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

The Pacific Drought Knowledge Exchange is committed to consensus-oriented governance that values the principles of accountability, transparency, respect for stakeholder interests, and efficiency. We value effective participatory approaches to accomplishing our work and achieving our goals, and seek to be equitable and inclusive across all of our programs.

To ensure effective governance, the Stewardship and Steering Committees are structured to engage staff and ensure we operate according to our principles, with the Steering Committee providing guidance to help the PDKE adhere to these principles.

We seek to align our goals and work with these principles to create a customer driven culture that values the input and involvement of all relevant partners. We seek to use in as neutral a way as possible the best available science, to use innovative and creative communication methods, and to foster positive communication with our partners, our committee members, and our staff. We seek to facilitate the exchange of management relevant drought information. We recognize that our core reason for existence is to meet the needs of resource managers those who make the policies that support effective resource stewardship.
