Seminar: Pacific Shipyards International, Project Management in Ship Repair

17 February 2021 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Troy Keipper, PE
Programs Vice President
Pacific Shipyards International (PSI)

Pacific Shipyards International is a locally owned and operated full-service shipyard in Hawaii, with long-standing roots to the region dating back to 1944. PSI is a substantial and integral part of the Navy’s efforts to maintain the active surface ships and submarines which are home ported in Pearl Harbor. Our customers include the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command National Oceanic & Atmospheric Association, University of Hawaii, and many commercial marine operators and contractors.

PSI’s new shipyard facility, located within 5.3 miles of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHNSY) and adjacent to downtown Honolulu, berths a newly constructed dry dock built to ABS and NAVSEA Standards that can support docking of vessels up to 7,500 LT and 450 ft in length. Innovative facility strategies have been deployed to increase operational effectiveness, excellence, and drive long-term risk reductions.

In this seminar, Troy will be discussing various activities at PSI, notably the role of Project Managers. Project Managers in construction, specifically military and commercial ship repair in our case, must act in an empowering, yet demanding fashion, maintaining relationships with many stakeholders that include customer project managers, military officers, contracting officers, company executives, and production personnel. Oftentimes the best project managers in the ship repair industry are degreed engineers who possess a keen eye for detail, have technical know-how, and the ability to work effectively and provide leadership to drive a diverse team toward a common goal. Please join us in this seminar to learn about PSI and the unique world of project management in ship repair!
