What ages is the Open House appropriate for? The SOEST Open House generally has ~ 70 exhibits, housed in 3 of our buildings on campus, as well in activity tents outside of the buildings. Because of this, there are exhibits for every age. Most exhibitors can adapt the presentation for the ages that come to visit the booth, but for those exhibits that are geared towards high school students, or to younger crowds, they will be listed as such in the program. Our youngest visitors are often preschools, and our oldest are undergraduates! When will we see a program for this year's Open House? The program will likely be finalized in September. In the program we will list the title and location of the exhibit, as well as a brief description of the exhibit, and a listing of ages that the exhibit will be appropriate for. In the meantime, you can check out our 2005 Program, so see the types of exhibits we had at our last open house. How do I register our class for the Open House? You can fill out a Attendance Notification form, and fax it to Tara Hicks Johnson at 956-9987. Or you can email Tara at hickst (@) hawaii.edu and just list the information requested on the form. You can also call her at 956-3151, and she can record your reservation. How large a class can I bring? Some classes register a single class, others bring a whole grade to the Open House. We generally have 3000 to 3500 students visit our Open House on the Friday. More FAQ will be added soon! |
