Daniel W. Schar serves as the technical coordinator for the Pacific Chapter of the Alliance for Coastal Technologies here at HIMB. Currently he is involved in the testing of oceanographic sensors for ACT. Dan is also the lab's in-house sensor engineer working intimately with ongoing projects, maintaining the equipment and overseeing deployment and sample collection for field assays. His background is in predator/prey interactions, boundary layer theory, and development of custom flow and novel tracer sensors for a variety of conditions. Ranging from mountain stream, salt marsh estuarine environments, and currently open ocean and reef environments, adaptation of existing technology to application at specific tolerances is a commonly done task.
