The Third JIMAR Symposium will be held in the Keoni Auditorium of the Hawaii Imin International Conference Center (1777 East-West Road) at East West Center on the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Campus.

JIMAR’s mission is to promote and conduct research necessary for understanding and predicting environmental change in the Pacific Islands Region, for conserving and managing coastal and marine resources in island environments, notably the Hawaiian Islands and the U.S.-affiliated Pacific Islands, and for supporting the region’s economic, social, and environmental needs.

In addition to research conducted at the University of Hawai‘i, JIMAR collaborates closely with the NOAA Pacific Island Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) and the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument (PMNM) office at the Inouye Regional Center (IRC). The Third JIMAR Symposium provides an opportunity for the UH and NOAA research communities to come together for synergistic discussions on topics of mutual interest. The theme of the Symposium is “New Technologies Driving Ocean Science Breakthroughs”.

Therefore, JIMAR has assembled leading experts from UH and NOAA, as well as invited presenters from the US mainland, for a day of scientific and technological interaction.
