Welcome to the homepage of the Department of Geology and Geophysics in the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. The department is located on the University of Hawai‘i’s largest campus (about 20,000 students), overlooking Waikiki and downtown Honolulu.

More than 60 Faculty, Graduate, Cooperating and Affiliate Faculty, teach and advise students in the Geoscience, Environmental and Planetary fields of study. The collective research expertise and programs of these faculty provide a broad diversity of potential projects and employment opportunities for students.

Department faculty are loosely organized into three Research Divisions: Geophysics and Tectonics, Marine and Environmental Geology, and Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology.
