Travel Ann comes aboard. After a flight from Honolulu to Guam, Ann spent the night resting in a hotel before going to the research ship "Thomas G. Thompson" on the Navy base in Guam. |

She is impressed with the size of the ship and as she steps onto the gangplank she wonders what adventures lie in store for her. |

|
Her relatives in the Netherlands are all seafarers, so she checks out the bridge of the ship where she spies a local resident hanging out and she looks over the controls. "A big ship, but she'll handle well!" |

| Ann and her new friend, Soupy, discover a microscope in the main lab and wonder what it will be used for. |

|
She gets a boost from Jim Gharib, a graduate student on the cruise, and takes a look at some deep sea mud. "Hmmmm..., what is this stuff?" |

Meanwhile, Soupy heads off for the galley to check out what's for lunch. After a succulent meal, he keeps an eye on things while thinking about taking a siesta. |
