Travel Ann comes aboard.

After a flight from Honolulu to Guam, Ann spent the night resting in a hotel before going to the research ship "Thomas G. Thompson" on the Navy base in Guam.

She is impressed with the size of the ship and as she steps onto the gangplank she wonders what adventures lie in store for her.
Her relatives in the Netherlands are all seafarers, so she checks out the bridge of the ship where she spies a local resident hanging out and she looks over the controls. "A big ship, but she'll handle well!"
Ann and her new friend, Soupy, discover a microscope in the main lab and wonder what it will be used for.
She gets a boost from Jim Gharib, a graduate student on the cruise, and takes a look at some deep sea mud. "Hmmmm..., what is this stuff?"
Meanwhile, Soupy heads off for the galley to check out what's for lunch. After a succulent meal, he keeps an eye on things while thinking about taking a siesta.
