What is your job on the ship? I am a researcher in the Department of Ocean and Resources Engineering, University of Hawaii. For this cruise I am collecting bathymetry data and developing this website.

How long have you been doing this? 8 years.

What is your favorite part of what you do? Designing instrumentation and working with world class engineers and scientists.

What is the least favorite part of your work? Being away from home and sleeping next to the bowthrusters.

How/why did you get into this field? I love being able to combine geology, geophysics, acoustics, engineering, and oceanography into one job!

What are your career goals? To be a renaissance man.

What is the biggest misconception about what you do: That I like star trek.

What is the most important skill/trait that you rely on? Systems analysis, motivation, and thinking out of the box.

What is your most memorable experience from your career? Piloting Jason II and doing a 360 roll... just kidding... maybe.
