What is your job on the ship? Processing sonar data, measuring chemical concentrations in pore waters and extruding mud from push cores.

How long have you been doing this?I’ve been processing sonar data for 3 years and doing mud-related tasks for about as long.

What is your favorite part of what you do? Being creative and learning about discoveries as fast as they come out.

What is the least favorite part of your work? I can’t work all the time. I get tired after a while.

How/why did you get into this field? I was going to be a mathematician, but I didn’t want o be inside all the time.

What are your career goals? Get as much of an education as I can and go on to discover new things.

What is the biggest misconception about what you do:That there is nothing left to be discovered.

What is the most important skill/trait that you rely on? A desire to learn about the world I live in.

What is your most memorable experience from your career? Getting a job working for Dr. Geoff Wheat.

Tell us something about yourself. I live in Monterey, California. I have lots of pets, but I like my dog the most because he likes me the most too.
