What is your job on the ship? AB (Able Bodied Seaman). I work with paints and cleaning gear. Outside, on deck, I work with the cranes and ropes.

How long have you been doing this? On and off for about 14 years.

What is your favorite part of what you do? The best part is the traveling and meeting new people and getting lots of time off.

What is the least favorite part of your work? Lots of noise on ships and boats and lots of movement; gets old.

How/why did you get into this field? I was working in the U.S. Coast Guard and after that I started working on ships.

What are your career goals? To work less and less in life.

What is the biggest misconception about what you do: That it’s lots of fun.

What is the most important skill/trait that you rely on? Common sense.

What is your most memorable experience from your career? Going to Europe.

Tell us something about yourself. Born in Ohio, now live in South Dakota. I fish, hunt and go into the Black Hills for walks and camping.
