What is your job on the ship? Second Mate (navigator)

How long have you been doing this? I've been going to sea, since I got out of high school.

What is your favorite part of what you do? The end of a very uneventful day.

What is the least favorite part of your work? The sometimes very long hours.

How/why did you get into this field? I spent a large part of my youth watching the ships come and go from Puget Sound. I always seemed to have an interest from about the first grade or so.

What are your career goals? My own yacht, which I will build myself - in other words retirement.

What is the biggest misconception about what you do: That all I really do out here is get a suntan.

What is the most important skill/trait that you rely on? Mathematic and computer skills.

What is your most memorable experience from your career? The day I got my first Maritime License.

Tell us something about yourself. I spend most of my time away from the ship maitaining some of my family's real estate holdings. Other than that I enjoy field sports backpacking fishing and hunting.
