Meet the Scientists and Crew! Ashton Flinders Ashton Flinders is a new graduate student at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, starting this past August. He received a B.S. in chemistry and a B.S. in physics in 2005 from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County and has always had a fascination with geological processes; most likely stemming from experiencing first hand several large magnitude earthquakes. He is working under the tutelage of Professor Garrett Ito-Apuzen, and hopes to make Hawaii his new home for the next several years.
