DISCO XXIII: 7-11 October 2012
The application period for 2012 is now closed. Invitations will be issued by 15 June 2012 for this year’s symposium.

The DISCO XXIII symposium for chemical oceanographers with recent PhDs will be held at the Kaua’i Marriott in Lihue, Kaua’i from 7–11 October 2012. This symposium will be jointly sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and coordinated by the University of Hawaii’s Conference Center.

Applicant Information

Participation in the DISCO symposium is by invitation only to applicants who have completed a dissertation concerning an important problem in ocean chemistry. Dissertations must have been completed after 30 June 2011, or applicants must provide certification from their department chair or Dean that they will complete their degree by 1 July 2013. The deadline to apply is 23 April 2012. Applications received by this date will be reviewed by a screening committee and invitations issued by 15 June 2012. Sponsoring agencies will pay for invited participants’ travel, hotel, and meals. The application period for 2012 is now closed. Invitations will be issued by 15 June 2012 for this year’s symposium.
