Sunset Beach is famous for its offshore surf break. Shoreline conditions such as wave height and current location and strength vary with season and short-term weather, and may make swimming hazardous. Waves are generally less than 3 ft at the shore, however the strength of shoreline currents and deep water offshore make this location suitable only for swimmers with some experience. Bordering beachrock may be sharp, slippery, and dangerous and should be approached with care. There is a lifeguard tower at the beach and limited beachfront parking.
