SHIP UTILIZATION 2004 R/V KA'IMIKAI-O-KANALOA

The rate for usage of the R/V KA'IMIKAI-O-KANALOA for calendar year 2004 is $16,000 per operating day. Operating out of Honolulu, an operating day begins at 0800 and ends 24 hours later at 0800 the following day. In ports, other than Honolulu, the operating day is 0000 to 2400. The full day rate is charged for any portion of the operating day that is used. The University provides the vessel fully crewed, fueled, and provisioned for 24 hour-a-day operations with accommodations for up to 19 research personnel.

There is no charge for two port days at Snug Harbor in Honolulu for onload and one port day at Snug Harbor in Honolulu for offload. Port days in ports other than Snug Harbor are charged at the full day rate.

The Vessel Operations Program and the University Marine Center operates as a Specialized Service Facility as defined in OMB Circular A-21, Sec.J.44. As such, rates are provisional and are subject to audit by the University's cognizant audit agency, and the Defense Contract Audit Agency. The rates stated above are fully burdened and include indirect costs. Charges will be made in accordance with the actual usage of the facility as certified by the User-Scientist.
