Deep dive completed yesterday without problems and everyone is quite content with results.  Vsl presently in relatively shallow water conducting added HROV tests.  Vessel, crew and science doing well.

Jason deployed shortly after evening meal and located OBS in the early morning hour of 03 Nov.  There was extensive damage to the unit as a result of floatation component and lithium battery failure(s).  After inspection and photography, a link line to Medea was attached for recovery and Jason brought back on board at 0613.  OBS unit failed to surface attached to the link line and inspection of the link line hook indicated failure of the safety catch for unknown reasons.  Vessel underway for next station.  Ship, science and crew doing well.

With Jason working below,  vessel experienced an engineering casualty to stbd motor from 1645-2240.  Jason operations suspended, but the unit remained deployed, for duration of casualty.  Resumed normal operations after engineering corrected the problem and motor tested satisfactory.   Recovered Jason this morning with ample samples at 0907 followed by elevator recovery with even more samples at 1115.  All is well.
