Daily Report for R/V Kilo Moana November 2006


Greetings All,

The em-1002 survey around the east side of Hawaii continues. This morning
we finished the survey lines inside Hilo Bay. At noon we were abeam
Laupahoehoe Pt. 0.6 mile distance off.

Noon Position: 19-59.9 N 155-13.7 W

At noon we had 80,784 gal. of diesel on board after consuming 2375 gal.
since yesterday.

The wind is SE at 6 kts with a rippled sea. The swell is ESE at 5-6 ft.
The baro is dropping slowly at 1014.5 MLB. The sky is cloudy with 9/10's
cover and the air temp is 77o F.

Greetings All,

We are continuing with the em-1002 survey around the east side of the
island of Hawaii. At 1200 we were 0.4 mi off Kaena Pt. The USCG broadcast
a notice to mariners concernng a overturned skiff about five miles up the
coast from this position.

Noon Position: 19-16.3 N 155-07.3 W

At noon we had 83,159 gal. of fuel on board after consuming 2288 gal.
since yesterday.

The wind is ESE at 10 kts. with a slight sea. The swell is SE at 5-6 ft.
The baro is dropping slowly at 1014 MLB. The sky is cloudy with 7/10's
cover and the air temp is 82o F.

Greetings All,

This report is a little late today as I was involved in getting the pilot
house ECDIS back on line....we are still engaged in the em-1002 survey of
the west side of Hawaii.

Noon position: 19-29.5 N 155-57.8 W

At noon we had 85,447 gal of fuel on board after soundings, we consumed
2033 gal. since midnight.

The wind is SSW at 10 kts. with a slight sea. The swell is negligable. The
baro is steady at 1015.5 MLB. The sky is partly cloudy with 4/10's cover
and the air temp is 82o F.

Greetings All,

The vessel is hove to paying out the trawl wire for the accoustic test of
the sheaves and winch. We anticipate 2 hours to complete the test.

Noon Position: 20-39.8 N 157-51.1 W

At noon we have 89,132 gals of fuel on board after soundings, we have
consumed 673 gal. since departure.

The wind is NE at 12 kts with a slight sea. The swell is SE at 8 ft. The
baro is steady at 1017.5 MLB. The sky is partly cloudy with 3/10's cover
and the air temp is 83o F.

deployments. At this time we are triangulating transponder locations. We
expect to deploy Jason at 1600 hrs.

At the moment ship is in DP mode, Jason Group is trouble shooting GPS feed
to Control Van. Once this is corrected we will test ship movements from
Control Van
