Greetings All,
We are presently running a line to the NW on the leeward side of
Oahu. At 1200 we were 2.9 miles due South of Barbers Pt. Lt. The wave
rider buoy is unfortunately still unserviceable due to it's ongoing
GPS receiver problem. We are continuing launching weather balloons
and gathering meteorological data with shipboard sensors and occasional
CTD casts.
Noon Position: 21-14.9 N 158-06.8 W
At 1200 we had 51,856 gal of fuel on board, having consumed 2940
gal since yesterday.
The wind is E'ly at 12 kts with a slight sea. The swell is SE at
6-8 ft. The baro is dropping slowly at 1019.5 MLB. The sky is partly
cloudy with 3/10's cover, and the air temp is 81o F.
ETA buoy " H " 0700 tomorrow, alongside before
0800.

Subject: KM 06-35-04 Noon Report Date: Mon, December 18, 2006 1:30 pm Greetings All, We are presently running a meteorological data gathering line between Kauai and Niihau Island. The wave rider buoy is inoperative at this time due to a failed GPS receiver. Weather balloons continue to be launched throughout the day. At 1200 we were 17.0 miles SSE of Pueo Pt, Niihau Island. All systems are running properly, except the UPS which remains out of service. Noon Position: 21-40.5 N 159-51.7 W At 1200 we had 54,796 gal. of fuel on board, after consuming 2853 gal. since yesterday. The wind is ESE at 25 kts with a moderate sea. The swell is SE at 10-11 ft. The baro is dropping slowly at 1021.5 MLB. The sky is partly cloudy with 4/10's cover and the air temp is 80o F. The weather forecast does not look promising for a recovery in the next few days. We arrived on station at 0230 and conducted a 4750 meter CTD cast. Since that time the weather has deteriorated considerably. We will depart station for Honolulu around 1600 with 2 generators on line. ETA for "H" buoy is 0830 tomorrow morning. Noon Position: 22-46.3 N 158-07.5 W At noon we had 62,394 Gal of fuel on board, having consumed 1892 gal since yesterday. THe wind is ENE at 25 kts with a moderately rough sea. Greetings All, Subject: KM 06-33-04 Noon Report Weekend Update Date: Sun, December 10, 2006 1:23 pm Greetings All, Station work continues at Aloha Station. The gas array was recovered at 0706 this morning. The .322 hydrowire had to be re-terminated after the 0900 CTD cast. A swell height of 10-12 ft caused the wire to jump out of the sheave while the package was near the surface during recovery. Steve cut 17 meters from the wire leaving 9578 meters. Noon Position: 22-47.1 N 157-54.5 W At noon we had 65,893 gal of fuel on board, having consumed 1092 gal since yesterday. The wind has slackened to ENE 12 kts with a slight sea. The swell is SE at 10-12 ft. The baro is dropping slowly at 1024.5 MLB. The sky is cloudy with 6/10's cover and the air temp is 80o F. The sediment rap array was deployed routinely at 2349. Station work continues today with no problems. The master gyro has not shown any problems since yesterday's adjustment. Noon Position: 22-45.0 N 158-00.0 W At noon we had 66,985 gal of fuel on board, having consumed 1803 gal since yesterday. The wind is E'ly at 26 kts. with a moderately rough sea. The swell is ESE at 8-10 ft. The baro is dropping slowly at 1026 MLB. The sky is cloudy with 7/10's cover and the air temp is 79o F. The server has been down at various times since yesterday. Steve and Tim are working on it. We did notice a 10o E. error between the gyro compass and the POS-MV. After talking with Gray, Steve and I adjusted the master gyro accordingly. It appears to be working properly now with no other problems. We'll get a azmiuth or amplitude later this afternoon. Noon Position: 21-20.6 N 158-16.4 W At noon we had 68,788 gal of fuel on board after consuming 385 gal since departure. The wind is ENE at 15 kts with a moderate sea. The swell is SE at 7-8 ft. We are running 18 mile long lines configured NNW and SSE. This particular survey commenced last night upon completion of the trawl and tension winch test. At noon we were 3 miles WSW of Penguin Bank. Noon Position: 20-53.0 N 157-49.2 W At noon we had 70119 gal of fuel on board after consuming 3146 gal since yesterday. The wind is NE at 25 kts with a moderate sea. The swell is ENE at 7-8 ft. At that time we proceeded toward the NE side of Kahoolawe to finish some unfinished areas skirting the reserve boundary. At noon we were 11.0 miles south of Palaca Pt, the sw tip of Lanai. It appears we will have deep enough water to conduct the additional test of the traction and trawl winch this evening around 1800. We plan to spend a few hours to finish up the recommended scenarios. Noon Position: 20-33.1 N 156-56.0 W At 1200 we had 73,265 gal. of fuel on board after consuming 2576 gal. since yesterday. The wind is ENE at 22 kts with a moderate sea. The swell is SE at 6-7 ft. The baro is rising slowly at 1017.5 MLB. The sky is cloudy with 9/10's cover and the air temp is 74o F. Upon completion of this survey we will proceed to the Hana side of Maui and resume inshore mapping around Maui. The em-120 is still down. The required spares did not make it out to the vessel with the joining scientists yesterday. Noon Position: 20-07.3 N 155-28.9 W At noon we had 75,841 gal of fuel on board after consuming 2660 gal since yesterday. The wind is SE at 18 kts. with a moderate sea. The swell is ESE at 5-6 ft. The baro is rising slowly at 1017 MLB. The sky is overcast with rain showers and 6 miles visibility. The air temp is 76o F. Mark Rognstad disembarked, while Joyce Miller, David Clague, and Brett Schumacher embarked the vessel. The em-1002 survey of the Island of Hawaii continues. We are finishing some inshore lines on the Kona side at the present time. Later this afternoon we will proceed back to the eastside going around to the north. Noon Position: 19-35.2 N 156-00.9 W At noon we had 78,501 gal. of fuel on board after consuming 2283 gal. since yesterday. The wind is SSW at 5 kts with a rippled sea. The swell is NW at 4-5 ft.
