granted and there is a high probability that entry will not occur until mid morning tomorrow at the earliest. Intend to hold station
off Apia vice anchoring for the evening.

Vsl has effected additional repairs to #3 M/E which has been tested satisfactory but will be used for transit only. Engineers are in the
process of inspecting #2 M/E and assessing repair requirements. A brake issue with Deep Sea Winch has re-surfaced but has not
adverselty affected operations at this time – engineers are troubleshooting. Initial tow-cam ops was delayed due to science
equipment problems until late evening. Close cooperation and coordination between science and bridge resulted in a successful
Completion of the operation and a few smiles. Again, with close cooperation between science and bridge, 1st tow-yo operation
launched this morning and completed satisfactorily despite DSW brake issue.

for tow cam operation this afternoon and expect this to be a “learning” experience. Tow Yo operations slated down the line.

Based on Ch Eng recommendation and Master’s concurrence, science operations suspended this morning and vessel
proceeding at best speed on 2 engines for Apia. Ship has been burning through injectors at an alarming rate and has
exhausted on board spares which has resulted in 2 engine operation. Sea glider launch and recovery and 1 instrument
Deployment had to be abandoned. Will retard ship’s clocks 23 hours this evening to conform with ZD +11(X). ETA Apia
Pilot Station is 1230 24 April.

Vessel has continued conducting operations per OTG and Technician Hohing directions including going “dead ship” to full operation twice to determine potential noise issues with no apparent indication of a problem. A good deal of data has been collected and will be further processed ashore. Intend to return Apra and discharge technician via launch at or about 1730. Due to no pierside berthing availability, unless otherwise directed, will proceed to sea and transit for Suva. Engineers continue to troubleshoot bowthruster. Module received has helped but did not resolved all issues.
