HANDLING EQUIPMENT: The aft portion of the main deck is configured to carry, launch, and recover equipment over-thestern and over-the-side. Deck equipment is designed to meet ABS certification for lifting gear and 46 CFR requirements. Installation permits a variety of oceanographic operations at sea, including: coring, water sampling, equipment launch and recovery, and array and trawl towing.

STERN U-FRAME: A Dynacon U-Frame is mounted on the transom to launch and recover oceanographic equipment and support running cable from the traction winch. It is designed to handle 10 tons and reach 12 feet beyond the transom. It is configured for towing electro-optical and 9/16 inch 3 X 19 wire.

CRANES: Heavy Lift Crane A North American, MCT-2540 crane is installed on the port side to load and off load and move equipment around the working deck. It has a lift capacity of 10 tons at a 34 foot radius and 5,000 lbs. at a 40 foot radius. Towing Crane Appleton Marine, Inc. Model KEB 50-35 crane on the starboard side can launch, tow and recover equipment. It is used to deploy EM cable from the topside hydrographic winch. It can handle a working load of 10 tons.

WINCHES: Hydrographic A Dynacon hydrographic winch is installed to conduct oceanographic Winch operations over-the-stern/side. It carries 10,000 meters of .322 EM wire.

Dynacon Traction Located in the winch/wire room on the main deck with cable runs to the Winch and U-Frame & port crane. It carries 10,000 meters of 9/16 inch 3x19 wire & Storage Drums 10,000 meters of .680 fiber optic cable on a storage drum on the 02 deck.
