We aim to provide as much practical information as possible on energy sustainability. If you have recommendations of what would be good sites, including university, government, non-profit, private, and other sources of information, please contact the webmaster with a link and a brief description.

 

The U.S. Green Building Council - standards and guidelines for energy-efficient and sustainable building, plus how-to information, case studies, and other useful material. USGBC is the promulgator of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards for building sustainably. As a state agency, all new construction by the University of Hawaii must meet LEED silver or an equivalent design standard.

Labs for the 21st Century - a partnership betwen the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to promote and support high-performance, energy efficient laboratories in the U.S., both in academia and the private sector. The Center for Smart Building and Community Design at the University of Hawaii is a Center for Excellence for Marine Laboratories of the Labs 21 Program.

HECO- HECO is partnering with the University of Hawaii at Manoa and providing tremendous technical support campus efforts to redudce its electricity consumption and increase energy efficiency.

Hawaii State Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism - this site is a source of information on Hawaii's energy policy, energy use, and state efforts to increase energy efficiency and the use of renewables.

U.S. Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - biomass, building technologies, solar energy, wind, hydrogen, and other subjects.
