On October 24, 2006, interim Chancellor Denise Eby Konan convened an energy summit so that faculty, students, and staff could learn about and discuss the energy crisis on the Manoa campus and its possible solutions. Some of the results of this event were:

  • the adoption and signing of the campus energy policy
  • the discussion of how it could be implemented
  • the establishment of the interim energy office and committment to hire a campus energy manager
  • the proposal of several campus energy projects which are now in the process of being implemented
