SOEST Open House

The 8th biennial SOEST Open House will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 (9:00am to 2:00 pm) and Saturday, October 15, 2005 (11:00 am to 2:00 pm). This year’s Open House theme will be “SOEST – The Hot Spot for Cool Science!” Please look for program updates at our Open House website:

Congratulations to Maui High School for winning the 2005 Hawaii Regional Competition for the National Ocean Science Bowl.

The 2006 Aloha Bowl will take place next February, 2006. For more information on the next years competition, please see the Aloha Bowl web site.

The faculty, staff, and students in this listing are willing to speak to school groups or other organizations about the following topics in ocean and earth science and technology. To schedule a talk for your group, please contact each lecturer directly. Talks can be geared toward any age group, unless otherwise indicated.

Educational Activities Developed for

"Mud Volcanoes from the Mantle!"

The aim of these activities is to take common skills and educational outcomes listed in the educational standards, and apply them to various aspects, situations, and general areas encountered during a research expedition. They are practical exercises that address the educational standards through application.
