UH Sea Grant routinely transfers research results directly to individuals and groups that may benefit and identifies research knowledge gaps through Extension (advisory) services. UH Sea Grant Extension agents put technical research to functional work in the community for sustainable economic development and diversification by building partnerships with agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals. Extension efforts include support of sustainable business and community development while maintaining resource integrity for future generations. UH Sea Grant Extension agents also serve a critical role in identifying real-world research gaps that hinder wise resource stewardship or sustainable business development. Agents thus serve as voices for their constituents in identifying research in need of funding that will directly benefit the community.
